Photonics Design Engineer

Remote or Hybrid (Seattle, WA) | Full-time exempt | April 1st, 2025

NLM Photonics is seeking an experienced photonics design engineer to design, model, and tape out photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and novel hybrid organic electro-optic modulators on silicon photonics and other platforms. This position involves extensive independent design, layout, and modeling (optical, electrical, and RF) work as well as collaboration with other NLM researchers and engineers. Prior experience with high-speed test and measurement of photonic, electrical, or RF systems is desirable for participating with characterization in an advisory or direct manner.  This position is remote eligible, although the role may include occasional work at a NLM Photonics office or attendance at offsites, as requested by the company. 

Optics/Instrumentation Technician

On-site (Seattle) | Full-time exempt | April 1st, 2025

NLM Photonics is seeking an Optics/Instrumentation Technician to perform passive and active optical, electrical, and electro-optic characterization on photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and related components. Duties may also include performing or assisting with micro/nanofabrication and instrumentation and method development and maintenance depending on background. This primarily on-site position involves extensive independent laboratory work as well as collaboration with other NLM researchers and engineers.

Chemist

On-site (Seattle) | Full-time exempt | April 1st, 2025

NLM Photonics is seeking a Chemist to perform formulation, analyses, and syntheses of organic electro-optic materials, including quality control, sample preparation, deposition, and custom formulations. This primarily on-site position involves extensive independent laboratory work as well as collaboration with other NLM researchers and engineers. The position requires on-site laboratory and cleanroom work 3-5 days per week in Seattle; depending on business needs, other duties are flexible as to location. Up to 10% travel (domestic and international) may be required for customer and partner site visits. 

Semiconductor Process Engineer

On-site (Seattle) | Full-time exempt | April 1st, 2025

NLM Photonics is seeking a Semiconductor Process Engineer to preform deposition, etching, poling, and metrology processes on silicon photonics and related platforms to improve fabrication processes for silicon-organic hybrid modulators and related technologies. This primarily on-site position involves extensive independent cleanroom work as well as collaboration with other NLM researchers and engineers. The position requires developing, performing, and documenting semiconductor processes using both standard and custom instrumentation. The position requires on-site laboratory and cleanroom work in Seattle 3-5 days per week, depending on business needs, and other duties are flexible as to location. Up to 10% travel (domestic and international) may be required for customer and partner site visits.
